I have been a bit quiet on the blogs recently. Life takes over, and I have to catch up on things that I have not done before end of year deadlines etc The nights are long and it has been very wet and cold which means jobs around the farm and house just take longer.
It is a poor excuse, I know, but that is the way it is. What has jolted me back into doing a blog this week is that I have had an old advert on my desk for many weeks, waiting for me to do something with it and share it with you all as a bit of history and a bit of an interesting article. I have finally had a few minutes to write something about it and to give you some exciting news.
We have been very busy developing a new section on our website, which will contain lot of useful information for the tractor enthusiast and the tractor restorer or machanic alike.
We now have a new section on our website. It is called ‘Technical Information Archive’ and it can be accessed from the top header of our website.
If using our website on a desktop computer
If you are viewing our website on a desktop computer you can access the Technical Archives from the yellow bar at the top of the website as in the picture below.
If using our website on a mobile device (or a small screen)
If you are using a mobile device then you have to click on the icon that brings the list of options, and then select ‘Techincal data Archives’.
What will be available in these archives?
This Technical Information Archives will be populated over time with documents from the days of BMC, Nuffield, Leyland and Marshall and will contain:
- Magazine articles
- Adverts and Advertising material from BMC, Nuffield, British Leyland and Marshall tractors
- Tractor model specifications
- College teaching documents
- British Leyland training school documents
- News Bulletins
- Service guides
- Etc
This wealth of information is from documents that we have collected over the years, and also things that we have acquired from old dealers when we have purchased all of their old stock when they ceased trading.
One thing that I will say about this information is that I have not checked all the finer details of every document. Of course, we read the documents before we scan them to make sure that they are relevant and we can usually pick up anything that is wildly out of sorts, but I do not have the time to look at and check every number in every document. So, these documents are presented to you in good faith and under this understanding.
We hope that you find this information useful in the restoration and preservation of the BMC and British Leyland tractors.
