At Tractor Spare Parts, we supply a variety of high-quality tractor parts from a plethora of established tractor manufacturers. While the bread and butter of our business is supplying parts for the Nuffield, Leyland and Marshall brands of tractors, some of these parts cross-over to other well known brands including the famous British manufacturer; David Brown tractors.
We are not the type of tractor company to offer one brand of tractor, we can source parts for all sorts of tractors and agricultural equipment that come into our yard.
We service tractors for local farmers and enthusiasts, as well as servicing the odd Nuffield, Leyland or Marshall which might have come from further afield but still require our expertise. A lot of our local farmer customers do not have Leyland tractors, although a few do, including our direct next door neighbour. Luckily, he does not have to go far to get a new part fitted when things go wrong, and unsurprisingly he trusts us to get him back up and running as quickly as possible.
We cater to a variety of different brands. From Ford New Holland and John Deere to David Brown, Manitou and Matbro, we turn our hand to whatever job is needed.
A lot of the vehicles that come through our door are more modern machinery, but we also have a lot of older vintage tractors which still work the small lanes and small crofts of the Peak District.
The older vintage tractors are the perfect size for the traditional farming of a smaller area. Many of the more modern tractors would not even fit through the gates or down the access lanes to the fields. There must have been a good David Brown dealership around the Ashbourne or Leek area in days gone by as we get many David Brown tractors in our local area.
Unsurprisingly, the aforementioned tractors come through our workshop for maintenance and repair on a daily basis.
Incredible Legacy
The Huddersfield based David Brown company has quite a unique and enviable legacy. The engineering company was originally working on gearboxes before eventually venturing into the tractor manufacturing business.
The David Brown tractors group's first venture into tractor production was a joint venture with Harry Ferguson all the way back in 1936. The fittingly named Ferguson-Brown tractor was an instant classic amongst those in the tractor industry. Since their original venture, they have become one of the most successful and pioneering tractor manufacturers in the UK.
Undeniable Quality
Tractor’s such as the original Brown-Ferguson joint venture tractor are instantly recognisable and always touted as being of high quality. Potential tractor buyers know and understand that when they purchase a David Brown tractor, they are purchasing a well-crafted piece of agricultural machinery.
Quality usually speaks for itself and as such, if products or manufacturing is of high quality, they usually stand the test of time. This is perhaps why David Brown Tractors have incredible longevity and immense staying power. Just take a trip to a tractor show near you and take note of how many David Brown tractors are on show.
Contact Us for David Brown Parts
While we may not stock every part for every David Brown tractor, a lot of the parts cross-over to the vast range that we do stock. So many times, we find that we have the correct filter or the correct fuel lift pump right on the shelf ready for fitting to your David Brown tractor.
Although we don’t stock every part that we might need, we work with a range of suppliers who hold vast ranges of stock, meaning that the majority of the time we can get replacement parts delivered into our yard the next day. We can also get parts shipped direct to our customers if we do not have the tractor in our yard.
Many David Brown tractors have the 11”/11” clutches that were built by LUK. LUK stopped servicing these clutches a few years ago now, and here at Tractor Spare Parts Ltd we purchased all of the stock of clutch kits and individual clutch components so that we can help keep these clutches in circulation.
The Leyland/Marshall and the David Brown clutches are effectively the same clutch, although the main plate and the PTO plate are the opposite way around in the Leyland version and the version found on the David Brown marques. The Leyland and Marshall tractors have the PTO plate on the inside and the main plate on the outside, whereas they are the opposite way around on the David Brown range.
