Here at Tractor Spare Parts, we have a lot of knowledge and experience, which we have picked up after 20 years of working solely with Nuffield, Leyland, and Marshall tractor parts. Joanna and Wendy, who you will probably speak to when you give us a call, both have decades of experience working at Tractor Spare Parts. Although neither are trained engineers, both have the knowledge that you need to purchase parts for your Nuffield, Leyland or Marshall tractor.

Our main business is selling tractor parts - but as the tractors that we are supplying parts for become older, it gets harder to find the parts that are still manufactured by the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM). A lot of these businesses have been around for a very long time and are still producing the spare parts, as they were supplying them directly to Nuffield or Leyland in the 1960s, 1970s or 1980s. However, as with many things in life, change happens and these companies decide they no longer want to produce a certain part. This is an issue, especially if your Leyland tractor needs this part for restoration.

I have just come across the article below which is an advert taken from ‘The Country Gentleman’ magazine, which is an American agricultural magazine which ran between 1852 and 1955. I am not sure which year this page from the magazine was printed in, but we do know that Purolator filters were founded in New York in 1923. My guess based on the models of tractors in the other parts of the magazine is that this advert was from 1954.

The eagle-eyed of you may have noticed that earlier this week I put up a couple of new videos on our Tractor Spare Parts Ltd You Tube channel. One of these videos showed Andy pointing to our own Universal 3 and showing where the PTO selector lever is to the left-hand side of the seat. We had a customer who had a leak on this PTO selector shaft and wanted to know how easy it is to stop the leak. I thought that this was a very good question and thought I would document this in this week’s blog

As I am writing this blog, we are at the beginning of a cold snap here in the UK. It might not be as cold as many other parts of the world who would laugh in our face at -6 oC, but it is cold enough.

I have been a bit quiet on the blogs recently. Life takes over, and I have to catch up on things that I have not done before end of year deadlines etc The nights are long and it has been very wet and cold which means jobs around the farm and house just take longer.

We are always speaking to customers about problems with engines, the reasons why they are experiencing problems with their engines and how we can help to get their BMC engine or Leyland engine back up and running. One thing that we hear a lot is water in the sump, which forms a milky solution and suggests the engine needs attention.

Once you have done an engine rebuild, reconditioned your cylinder head or even once you have replaced the head gasket on an older tractor, there will be settings that you need to make on your engine in order for it to run properly. The best place to find these settings is in the workshop manual where the torque settings and settings procedures is laid out in a nice format. You can find all of the available Nuffield, Leyland and Marshall workshop manuals on our website under the Tractor Workshop Manuals and Handbooks section.

When you get to putting the decals on the bonnet of your Leyland tractor, you know that the restoration is nearing the end. After painting the decals are the final finishing touches to the exterior of the tractor and they can make a difference.
